Gorman Alton Adams

      Gorman Alton Adams, 89, passed away, Tuesday, September 20, 2011. He was born January 28, 1922 in Nash County. Gorman was the son of the late Theophilus and Annie Lee Burchett Adams. He was a loving father and grandfather. He loved gardening and his dogs. A kind humble man that will be missed by his family. Anyone who never had the pleasure of talking with him missed a special blessing. He was preceded in death by one daughter, Lavinia, six brothers and three sisters.

    He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of 47 years Shirley Faison Adams, one son, Jerry A. Adams and wife Jeanette of Rocky Mount, one daughter, Barbara Ann Tippette and husband Wayne of Enfield, two brothers, Merideth Adams (Melba) of Halifax, Bob Adams (Margie) of New Bern, one sister, Leila Strickland of Enfield, six grandchildren Jerry Adams, Jr. (Sherri), Kim Brown, Sherry Hunt ( Scott), Robbie Tippette ( Lisa), Jeff Tippette ( Lynn) and Melissa Davis, and 10 great-grandchildren.

    Visitation will be Friday, September 23, 2011 from 1:00-2:00PM at Cornerstone Funeral Home. Funeral Service will follow at 2:00PM in the Chapel of Cornerstone Funeral Home with the Rev. Tim Adams officiating. Burial will follow at Adams Family Cemetery of Nashville.

     The family would like to extend a special thanks to Kay, Blanche and special friend Bobby Pierce.
