Margie Inez Barnes Batchelor

Margie Inez Barnes Batchelor, 87, passed away Tuesday, January 17, 2012. Born in Edgecombe County on March 6, 1924, she was the daughter of the late Jerry Roscoe and Gladys Hathaway Barnes. Mrs. Batchelor was a member of Fayetteville Christian Church. Her family was her life. She was a devoted wife, loving mother and grandmother, who's own patriotic service was displayed by her selfless support to her husband's and children's dedication to serve our country. Her hobbies included crocheting, sewing and reading. She is survived by her four loving children; Barbara Batchelor of Nashville, Thomas Batchelor and wife, Elaine of Fayetteville, Dianna Batchelor and husband, Richard Dingfield of Nashville, David Batchelor and wife Carol of Ft. Leavenworth, Kansas; daughter in law, Marcia Batchelor of Lacey, Washington; eleven grandchildren and eighteen great grandchildren.She was preceded in death by her husband, Hardy Elmo Batchelor and a son, Hardy Elmo Batchelor, Jr.
A memorial service will be held 7:00 p.m. Friday, January 20, 2012 at Cornerstone Funeral Home with Pastor Mel Winstead officiating. Burial will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 21, 2012 at Lafayette Memorial Cemetery in Fayetteville. The family will receive friends from 6-7:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. Flowers are accepted or memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimers North Carolina, Inc.
