Carl Braxton Creekmore

 

        Carl Braxton Creekmore, 84, passed away peacefully Wednesday, December 28, 2011. Carl was born in Franklin County to the late Aaron and Kathleen Creekmore and was preceded in death by a brother Wayne Creekmore. Carl was a member of Momeyer Baptist Church.              He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years Gloria Hinton Creekmore, daughters, Courtney Bass and husband Lance of Spring Hope; Claire Norton and husband Terry of Irmo, SC; son David Creekmore and wife Samantha of Rocky Mount. He also leaves three grandson’s Brandon Bass, Taylor Norton and Jacob Norton; brothers Alvin Creekmore and wife Irene, Wallace Creekmore and wife Joan and numerous nieces and nephews.              Carl had a successful career as a building contractor in Nash and surrounding counties followed by 15 years as co-owner of Nashville Building Supply Company. He was a member of Momeyer Ruritan Club with many years of perfect attendance. Carl was the 2007 recipient of the Ruritan Club’s Tom Downing Award. He served on many community boards and committees and worked tirelessly as the chairman of the committee to incorporate the Town of Momeyer. Even after retirement Carl remained active enjoying travel, playing golf and woodworking.              The family wishes to express their appreciation to Dr. Joseph Liverman, Premier Cardiology, the staff and caregivers at Wake Medical Center and Hospice of Wake County.              Visitation will be Friday December 30, 2011 from 6:00-8:00PM at Cornerstone Funeral Home. Funeral Service will be Saturday December 31, 2011 at 11:00AM in the Chapel of Cornerstone Funeral Home with the Rev. Paul Arnold and Rev. Roy Parker officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery of Nashville.              In lieu of flowers those wishing to honor the memory of Carl Creekmore are encouraged to make memorial gifts to the Momeyer Fire and Rescue Department at 4872 Momeyer Way, Nashville, NC 27856 or Spring Hope Fire Department at PO Box 806, Spring Hope, NC 27882.
