Mary Lee Mills Hicks

    Mary Lee Mills Hicks, 80, died Tuesday, April 12, 2011.  She was born June 9, 1930 in Halifax County, daughter of the late Elvis (Snuffy) and Maggie Carter Mills. Mary was the widow of Roy Hicks, Jr. to whom she was married for 63 years.  In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by sons, Johnny, Mike and Gary Hicks.

    Surviving are a daughter; Bonnie Collins and husband Charles of Nashville; granddaughter Renee Crauley and husband Frank of Whitakers; grandsons, Allen Peacock and wife Misty of Pinelevel, NC, Andy Hicks and wife Erin of Fountain, NC and Daniel Hicks and wife Amanda of Nashville; sister Mable Jones of Whitakers; daughter in law, Sylvia Long and husband Ray of Rocky Mount; great grandchildren, Hunter, Luke, Lauren, Caleb, Jaidin, Samantha and Lane; great great grandchildren, Logan and Sydney; several nieces and nephews, one special nephew, Melvin Hicks and wife Linda of Rocky Mount, and her caregiver, Mrs. Lorraine Smith of Rocky Mount.  The family would like to especially thank the staff of Tar Heel and Community Home Care and Hospice for all their care.

     Graveside service will be 11:00 AM Friday, April 15, 2011 at Pineview Cemetery with the Rev. Allen Peacock officiating.  The family will receive friends at Cornerstone Funeral Home, Nashville from 7 to 8:30 PM Thursday, April 14.
