James Irving Hinton

James Irving Hinton, 80, passed away Monday, April 18, 2011. He was born on October 24, 1930 in Nash County. James was the son of the late Paul Knight and Nora Vann Hinton. He is also preceded in death by his wife Lola Jean Smith Hinton, one brother Hoytt “Runt” Hinton, and one great grandson Logan.   James was a member of the Momeyer Baptist Church and Momeyer Ruritan Club, where he served as president for two years.  He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather who enjoyed hosting large family gatherings with his wife at their home and sharing his knowledge and memories with his grandchildren.  He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, and crabbing with family and friends.

            James leaves to cherish his memory son Terry Hinton and wife Jackie of Grimesland, NC; daughter Bonnie Hinton Hense and husband Karl of St. Charles, MD; brother Cecil (Pete) Hinton and wife Joyce of Momeyer, NC; three sisters, Rachel Smith and husband Russell of Greenville, NC; Faye Hinton of Louisburg, NC; and Pauline Bayer of Harrisburg, PA and sister-in-law Violet Hinton of Momeyer, NC; two grandchildren, Joseph Hinton and Leslee Wood; four great grandchildren, Noah, Mason, Gavin, and Isabella.      

            Visitation will be held Friday, April 22, 2011 from 7:00-8:30 pm at Cornerstone Funeral Home.  The Funeral Service will be Saturday, April 23, 2011 at 2:00 pm in the Chapel of Cornerstone Funeral Home with Rev. Paul Arnold officiating. Entombment will follow at Oakdale Cemetery in Spring Hope, NC.
