Doris Taylor Wood

Doris Taylor Wood, 87, passed away peacefully at her home on Tuesday, November 15, 2011.  Doris was a wonderful and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and a true friend to many and she will be greatly missed.  A native of Greene County, she was the daughter of the late Floyd Taylor and Blanche Taylor.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, David Wood, and her brothers, Kendrick Taylor and Lester Herring, Jr. 

Surviving are her daughters, Carolyn Bass of Greensboro and Cindy Wood of Spring Hope; her grandchildren, who affectionately knew her as Gran-Gran, Claire Gaskins and husband Daryl of Clayton, Justin Bass of Chapel Hill and Lindsay Bass of Raleigh; great-grandchildren Lillie and Maggie Gaskins; and her special and devoted dog, Fritz.  Doris is also survived by her sisters Eloise Tallman, Joyce LaMotte, and Faye Carawan; brother, James Herring; and sister in law Ruth Taylor.

Memorial service will be held 2:00 PM Thursday. November 17, 2011 at First Baptist Church in Spring Hope.  The family will receive friends at the church prior to the service from 1:00 until 2:00 PM.

The family wishes to thank and greatly appreciates the wonderful services provided by the Hospice of Nash.

Please know that we ae praying for your family during this most difficult time.   I pray that the wonderful memories you hold for this special lady will sustain you amidst your grief.
