    Algia Webster Strickland

    February 11, 1939 - February 18, 2022

    Algia Webster “Pete” Strickland, 83, of Nashville, North Carolina joined his Heavenly Father on Friday, February 18, 2022. Pete was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Ida Pearl Strickland; daughter, Pat Melvin; parents, Albert and Alma F. Strickland; brothers, Jimmy and Larry Dew; brothers-in-laws Donald and Billy Braxton; and sisters-in-laws Loretta and Peggy Braxton. He is survived by his son, Mike Strickland and wife Mary; son-in-law Mark Melvin and wife Clarice; grandchildren, Cody Melvin and wife Ashley, Cole Strickland and wife Casey, Lindsey Thomason, Dillon Hawley and fiancée Kayla, Casey Denton and husband Brandon, and Reese Melvin; great-grandchildren, Addison Melvin, Dawson Denton, Ellie Hawley, Mackenzie Melvin, and two more great-grandchildren on the way; sisters-in-law, Aljah Ray and Sara Dew, Carolyn Braxton; brother-in-law Dillard Braxton; the many cousins, nieces, and nephews who he loved dearly; and the farming community of Nash County who he knew and worked with throughout his time working in the dairy industry. Pete worked as a dairy farmer for most of his life. He served as a member on the Board of Directors for Farm Bureau, board member for Dairy Farmers of America, and was a member of Corinth Baptist Church since he was a child. Anyone who knew Pete knew he loved to tell stories and could give you a fact on anything you wanted to know about. Pete and Ida Pearl opened their home and fed many a person throughout their lives. If you walked away from their house hungry, it was your own fault. He will be dearly missed by all those who loved and knew him. Visitation with family and friends will be Tuesday, February 22, 2022 from 10:30-11:45AM at Cornerstone Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 12:00PM in the Chapel of Cornerstone Funeral Home with Dr. Toby Easley officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Corinth Baptist Church, 2883 N. NC Hwy 58, Nashville, NC 27856.
