Margaret Burchfield Lynch Born December 23, 1944, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday April 14, 2022, at 1:58PM she was surrounded by her family and friends with her son and sister holding her hand. Margaret was born to Paul and Elsie Akins Burchfield in Guilford County NC. The family moved to Rocky mount when she was a child, and she grew up in Rocky Mount. She attended Benvenue School. She was married to the Late James “Shorty” Lynch for 27 years until the time of his death and made her home in Sharpsburg for over 50 years. Margaret loved gospel music and was and Avid fan of Elvis Presley. She had a whole bedroom of Elvis memorabilia. She made two trips to Graceland with her son and family. You could also find her and her sister at her favorite place to eat at Andy’s in Sharpsburg. Her favorite pastime was watching Hallmark movies..old Westerns… and game shows. She would enjoy her trips to the beach and other places with son. She was along time member of Sharpsburg Baptist Church. She was often seen around town and was referred to as “Miss Shorty” by people that knew her husband. She loved her peanut butter sandwiches and her Dr Pepper. And she would never forget a Birthday. One of her favorite gospel groups was Roger Summerlin and the Oak Grove Boys of Elm City and Harvey Edwards of Harvest Time of Selma NC. Margaret was preceded in death by her father and Mother as well as her Husband James “Shorty” Lynch. She was also preceded in death by her Brother Donald Lee Burchfield, her best friends Sue Joyner and Phyliss Quigley and her Precious mother-in-law Louise Lynch. She is survived by her Beloved and devoted son James Paul Lynch of Selma. Her sister Alice Faye Burchfield and Brother Charles Burchfield both of Rocky Mount. She is also survived by her son of choice Kevin Robertson and niece Melissa Burchfield, great niece and nephew Elsie Elizabeth and Benjamin Beard. Special friends and her adopted Mother Ms. Myra Murray and Adopted Brother Bruce Wayne Murry wife Brenda and adopted sister Ms. Betty Lynch all of Sharpsburg. And her Grand dog Sophia. Her Favorite expression was “I AINT WORRIED ABOUT IT” The family wishes to express sincere thanks to the Doctors and Nurses of ICU of UNC Health of Nash Rocky Mount for their compassionate care over the last two weeks. And all the friends and churches for all the prayers. Funeral Service will be Sunday April 24th at 3:00 PM at Benvenue Baptist Church with her son JP Lynch, Rev. Charles Kirkland and Rev. Matt Roman officiating. Visitation will be Sunday April 24th 1:30 PM until 2:45 PM at the church with Service to follow at 3:00 PM. She will be buried beside her beloved Late Husband James “Shorty” Lynch at the Williams Family Cemetery. She will be escorted by Horse and Carriage to her final resting place.
