James William Glover Jr.

James William Glover, Jr., age 63, entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, November 4, 2020. He was born on May 18, 1957 to Ann Glover Batts and the late James W. Glover. Jim was a dedicated son and father who loved his family dearly. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandmother, Elizabeth Lamm, along with his maternal grandparents, Dorothy and George Britt. Jim was born in Nash County and raised in Nashville. As a young child, he enjoyed sports and loved nothing better than going with his father to watch him coach high school athletics. He excelled in football as a NNSH running back as well as basketball playing against the likes of Phil Ford. As the Director of the Town of Nashville Parks and Recreation Department for 20 years prior to his retirement, Jim worked tirelessly for countless hours and years coaching and mentoring area youth across Nash County to convey to them a love of the game, a sense of fair play both on and off the field, and a healthy and respectful competitive drive. His service and dedication will long be remembered by the children and parents whose lives he touched. Jim’s heart was always full of love and pride at what he truly believed was his greatest life’s accomplishments – his four children. He always wanted each of them to have what he felt he missed out on when his father was taken suddenly from him at the tender age of fourteen. He leaves to cherish his memory his loving mother, Ann Glover Batts and step-father, Floyd Batts; his fiancée, Karen Bass Seawell; children, Jason Glover (Candy), Haley Glover Cole (Derrick), Casey Glover (Everett) and Adam Glover (Meghan); grandchildren, Kaitlyn Glover Keefe (Walker), Trey Glover and McKinley Glover; and great-granddaughter, Kaylee Grace Keefe; step-sisters Susan Strugill and Hope Tyler; step-brother Michael Batts. In addition, Jim leaves his loyal and much-loved Bella Grace whose constant companionship and unwavering love brought him such joy. A visitation will be held on Saturday, November 7th at J.W. Glover Memorial Park in Nashville at 11:00 am on the Hornets Football Field for family and friends. A private family burial will follow at Forest Hills Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Town of Nashville Parks and Recreation Department in Jim’s honor and memory at 120 West Washington Street Nashville, NC 27856.
