Brenda Sue Taylor Watkins

Brenda Taylor Watkins, 76, passed away peacefully on September 6, 2025, at the Hospice House in Greenville, NC, after a life filled with love, laughter, and faith. Born on May 15, 1949, in Williamston, NC, Brenda was the daughter of the late CB and Sue Taylor. Brenda's early years of adulthood were spent in Williamston, where she married Richard Roberson. Together, they had two children: Richie Shreves (husband Mike) and Mike Roberson (wife Tracey). Brenda also had four grandchildren - Samantha Jones, Hillary Shay, Kylie Sittig, and Tyler Roberson - and two great-grandchildren, Camden and Sutton Shay. Her long and dedicated career with CenturyLink eventually led her to the Franklin County area. It was there that she met Bob Watkins. They built a beautiful life together in Spring Hope, NC, filled with faith, friendship, and a shared devotion to their community. Brenda was a faithful and active member of Duke Memorial Baptist Church, where she formed lasting bonds and found strength in her spiritual journey. Brenda had a magnetic personality — fun-loving, quick-witted, and full of humor. It was this very spirit that inspired her son to hire her part-time several years ago in the Customer Service department at SCI Technologies, where she answered phones. Both customers and colleagues quickly grew very fond of her, affectionately calling her “Mama Brenda”. Even in times of illness, she never lost her sense of humor — delighting her care team with stories and even a little good-natured “joking” with her neurosurgeon. Her lightheartedness was a gift to all who knew her. Brenda is survived by her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, as well as her brother Carl Taylor (wife Gloria), nieces Kelly Brown, Fallon Wilson, Kirsten Goff, and Cara Equils, and nephew Davey Taylor. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bob Watkins; her parents, CB and Sue Taylor; and her cherished fur babies, Sweat Pea and Patches. Brenda also leaves behind a circle of special friends who were like family: Jane Smith, Hope and David Batchelor, Betty Mundel, Scott and Debi Batchelor, and Kathy Dougherty — each of whom brought comfort, laughter, and special companionship into her life. Brenda's legacy is one of laughter and kindness. She will be remembered for her joyful, fun-loving spirit — and she will be deeply missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her. A celebration of Brenda’s life will be held Saturday, September 13th at Duke Memorial Baptist Church in Louisburg, NC. Visitation will be held from 2-3 p.m., immediately followed by her service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Hospice House of Greenville or Duke Memorial Baptist Church
