Celebrating the Continued Legacy of Christopher Eugene Taylor April 11, 1988 – October 25, 2024 Christopher “Chris” Eugene Taylor, born in Lincolnton, North Carolina, was a remarkable soul who brought boundless joy, love, and inspiration to everyone around him. Chris’s life was marked by strength, resilience, and a deeply generous heart. He is survived by his mothers, Barbara Green (fiancé, Gerry Brabham) and Stacy Davenport-Baird; father, Eugene Taylor (wife, Rose); his sister, Diane Dancy (husband, Terrell Dancy); other siblings, Sarah Denton (husband, Matt) and Sam Edmonds (wife, Kathy); grandmothers, Edith Mitchum and Judy Taylor; nephews, Braxton, Levi, Alec, and Charlie; niece, Stella; and a host of aunts, uncles, and extended relatives. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Clarence Taylor, and maternal grandfather, Robert Green (wife, Susan). Though initially diagnosed as high-functioning autistic, within the last four years, we learned Chris had Mucopolysaccharidosis (MPS Type 1 Hurlers Syndrome), a rare genetic terminal disorder affecting multiple organs, including the nervous system, heart, and bones. Despite these challenges, Chris lived a vibrant and fulfilling life that defied the odds. While most with MPS never reach adulthood, Chris graced us with 36 incredible years, each one filled with his unwavering spirit and love. Chris’s life was a celebration of kindness and compassion. His testimony to doing God’s work was his giving heart as he touched everyone he met. Just days before he was called home, Chris was sharing encouragement and serving meals to over 200 people in the hospital. His joyful spirit and positivity never wavered, inspiring all who knew him. Chris cherished time with his family, who loved him dearly and treasured every moment they spent together. As Chris grew older, he embaraced his independence and moved into Welcome Home Group Home where he gained an extended family who loved him wholeheartedly. Together Chris and his new brothers, Jamie, Garry, Alex, Billy, and Chris K. , along with Stacy’s children, Matthew Davenport and Brittney Ream and other staff Miss Ann, Clint Davenport and Doug Baird all created a loving home for Chris, sharing joyful days of laughter, companionship, and countless special memories. Chris enjoyed many adventures with them, including 14 Carnival cruises and many trips to Mexico. Chris also found comfort in his leisure time watching WWE, cheering for UNC basketball, and reliving his favorite cartoons. Chris embraced life fully, participating in the Special Olympics, volunteering at Compassion Café, studying Taekwondo, Participating in disability week at Camp Caroline, and dancing at the Moose Lodge, Ark of Wilson, Dances and Events. After graduating from Nash Community College, he worked proudly at TCI, finding joy and purpose in his role. One of Chris’s deepest passions was his mission to collect tabs for the Ronald McDonald House. Starting as a school project of his sister’s, his dedication grew over the years into a heartfelt goal. After proudly reaching his first million tabs, Chris set his sights on a second million, driven by his selfless spirit and desire to help families in need. We would like to express our greatest appreciation and gratitude to Mrs. Jamie S Clemmons, who as Chris’s nurse, always found a way around our crazy schedule to ensure that Chris was able to receive his infusions in the comfort of his home instead of in the hospital week after week for hundreds of infusions. We would also like to thank Jennifer Coker and Jennifer Fletcher from Sanofi for their dedication an continued support throughout our medical journey. Chris is now free from MPS, pain, and pending surgeries, completely healed. He is our angel, watching over us, and we honor him by carrying forward his kindness.
