Doris Ann Woods

Ms. Doris Ann (Marsh) Woods who was known to all as “Ann” was called home Wednesday February 28, 2019 at Nash General Hospital in Rocky Mount, NC. Ann was daughter of the late Samuel and Alpherata (Jones) (Marsh) Battle, she was widow of Willie Calvin Woods Sr. Doris was born June 25, 1949 in Nashville, NC and relocated to New Haven as a teenager and graduated from Wilbur Cross High School Class of 1968. After High School Ann was employed by SNET for 25 years before retiring and returning to NC in 1992. Ann was employed for 7 years by the US Post Service in NC and ran a home Day Care for a period of time; and retired from WalMart 2013. Ann was a very loving, kind and generous soul and affected the hearts and souls of every person she met. Ann enjoyed getting up early on Saturday morning’s where she could be found at the “Yard Sales”. She enjoyed cooking and spending time with family. Ann was a no cut cards type of Gal and everyone loved her for that. She had a sense of Humor that complimented her spunky attitude. She leaves to cherish her memory; sons Demetrice (Kim) Woods and Tyrell Woods both of New Haven, Grandchildren; Dimitria Woods, Journey Woods, Devona Woods and Atrell Woods all of New Haven and Tyshawn Green of Nashville NC. Sisters; Shirley Jones of Wilson NC. Sharon Robinson of Fayetteville, NC, Edna Duell of Charlotte, NC. Loretta Battle of Fayetteville NC.Glynis Marsh of Charlotte, NC, Clementine Phillips of Rocky Mount NC, Lynell Walton of Fayetteville NC, Liddie Marsh of NC, Lorraine McCoy of Capital Heights MD and Marguerite Bell of Baltimore MD. Brother Wayne Battle of Washington, D.C. and special friend James Brown. Uncles William “Buddy “Jones of New Haven CT and Roscue “Dick” (Deidre) Jones of Hamden CT Beloved Aunt Dorothy Jean (Jones) Joyner ( Curtis) of West Haven CT and Thelma Marsh of New York, and Dearest Cousin Ruth Baker of Rocky Mount, NC. Great-aunts Thelma Cameron and Lou Baker both of NC. She leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends from far and near. She will be missed tremendously as she will live in our hearts forever. Besides her parents and husband, Ann is predeceased by her son Willie Calvin Woods Jr. and granddaughter Callesha Woods: five brothers and two sisters.
