Rebecca Jones Bass

Rebecca “Becky” “Mabeck” Jones Bass, 83, passed away Friday, July 29, 2022. She was born January 19, 1939 in Halifax County to the late James B. and Irene Braddy Jones. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a brother Marvin. R. Jones (Pat). Becky leaves behind her husband, L.R. “Teck” Bass, Jr., to cherish her memories and their children: Leslie R. Bass. III (Janet), Daniel Bass (Renee) and Beth Edwards (Tim). Grandchildren include: Trent and Sarah Bass, Danielle and Mallory Bass, Luke and Sadie Edwards. Additional family members include her brother, Fred Jones (Peggie), a sister in law, Sandra Davenport (Dickie). Becky also leaves two very special fur babies who meant the world to her, Mitzie and Buddy. We would like to show our appreciation and love for Adeline “Lene” Davis. Lene helped Becky physically, mentally and showed her great compassion. She began working at Carolina Telephone as a long distance operator for several years. It was during this time that she fell in love with the man of her dreams, Teck. After three short months of courtship, they were married on November 26, 1959. She then started working at L.R. Bass & Son with Teck. They also co-owned and operated W.B. Florist. After closing L.R. Bass & Son, Becky went to work at John`s Gifts and retired from the Nash County Clerk of Court. Becky received recognition and honors for: First President of Nashville Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary, The Nashville Jaycettes Outstanding Woman of the year, First Woman elected to the Nashville Board of Commissions where she served for twelve years. Through the years, diabetes hindered Becky`s eyesight. However, her love for painting and drawing continued to flourish with such beauty. Even though Becky had faced many health obstacles, she persevered to continue to live her happiest life surrounded by her family and friends. The outfit that Becky is wearing today, she saw hanging in the window of a department store on their honeymoon, sixty two years ago. The cost was above their means, but Teck still managed to buy it for his beautiful bride. Visitation with family and friends will be Sunday, July 31, 2022 from 6:00-8:00PM at Cornerstone Funeral Service. A funeral service will be held Monday, August 1, 2022 at 11:00am at Momeyer Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery of Nashville.
