Walter "Milton" Farmer

Walter "Milton” Farmer, 90, went to be with his Lord February 14, 2025. He was born December 20, 1934 in Wilson County, NC. Milton was the son of William Edgar and Nannie Barbee Farmer. He was a 39 year retiree of Swift & Co/Dinner Bell, Wilson, NC, and a retired farmer. Milton lived life to the fullest. He had an infectious smile and sparkle in his eyes, he never met a stranger, and his desire to spend time with family and friends was rarely, if ever satiated. For nearly 50 years, Milton hosted a Wednesday night feast and fellowship for friends at his maternal grandparents' homeplace, known as the Old House, eventually becoming known as "The House of Knowledge." Some things that come to mind when people think of "Milt" - July 4th pig pickings, homemade country sausage, hushpuppies, NASCAR races, star basketball player, prankster, story teller, helper, giver, mentor, hard worker, good neighbor, wonderful husband, father and grandfather. Many have shared they consider him a pillar of his community. He and Joyce, his loving wife of nearly 50 years, were both blessed to retire early. They took advantage of their retirement years with travel and service to others. He and Joyce founded the Senior Saints Ministry of Macedonia Baptist Church, Spring Hope, NC., where he is a member. Their travels included visits to 49 US State capitals, National parks, many cruises and drop-in visits to friends and relatives along the way. He is preceded in death by his parents, and six brothers - William, Clifton, Brooks, Tom, "DW" and Donald. Milton leaves to cherish his memory, two daughters, Michelle Farmer of Spring Hope, NC, Cindy Kleven and husband Wayne ; two grandchildren Olivia Kleven and Caleb Kleven, Raleigh, NC, many nieces, nephews, friends, and special friend Irene Thompson. Sisters-in-laws Guy Jean Manning Farmer, Spring Hope, NC, Gayle Johnson Sorrel, Coats, NC, and Betty Tart Johnson, Coats, NC. Visitation will be Monday, February 17, 2025 6:00 - 8:00 PM at Cornerstone Funeral Home, Nashville, NC. and other times at the family home. Funeral service will be Tuesday, February 18, 2025 at 2:00 PM, in the chapel of the funeral home with Reverends Ron Hawley and Billy Webb officiating.
