Charles Matthew "Matt" Pierce

Charles Matthew Pierce died too young on Monday, April 19, 2021 in Charlotte, NC at age 34. He was born in Rocky Mount, NC and survived by his son, Ryder Gabriel Pierce, with his mother, Malina Young and her family. Also survived by his Mother, Deborah and Stepdad, Ed Brice of Emerald Isle; Father Kenny and Stepmom, Anne Pierce of Nashville; Big Sister Anna, Nieces Taylor, Kathryn and Nephew Grant Lowder of Albemarle; Sister Jessica and Husband Charles and Niece Layla Shearin of Emerald Isle. Step siblings Justin Whitley, Nicole Wainright and Robb Thompson. Aunts, Uncles and Cousins are also grieving his loss. He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Ray & Anna Matthews and Thurman and Louise Pierce all of Nashville. Memorial Service at Cornerstone Funeral Home in Nashville, NC on Saturday April 24 at 4PM. Matthew always made genuine friendships everywhere he lived. He was an influencer and positive role model, without the ego of superiority or judgment. Matthew was a thoughtful, inclusive, creative, positive, kind man who loved his family and friends, nature and animals. He enjoyed God’s creation with friends hunting, fishing and riding motorcycles. He participated with friends in entertaining safety shows for kids at schools. He rescued many animals and spent years helping build and maintain Carolina Wildlife Conservation Center near Charlotte as a beloved volunteer along with Malina, Ryder and close friends at the Center, Jason and Ruby Davis. He was accepting and protective of wildlife and humanity hurting or struggling in our world. He designed and built furniture and homes learning the craft from his father. He worked for several years with his grandfather, then his mother’s company, Ray Matthews Appraisals & Realty while studying Real Estate. Matt had his mom’s love of sharing, observation and storytelling they learned from Grandad. Blessed to have both sets of grandparents for 20+ years that greatly impacted him with love and wisdom, his Mema and Pop Pierce, Nana and Grandad Matthews. He worked and travelled many years with McKim & Creed Surveyors of Wilmington, NC. He attended Cape Fear Community College. He trained and was manager of a Domino’s Restaurant in Wilmington. He was Distribution Manager of a Major Vaping Company in Wilmington. Most recently, he managed Shipping and Receiving with Alro Steel Company in Charlotte. He was industrious, disciplined, organized and a man of integrity admired for his skills in problems solving, management, organizational and leadership abilities with an endearing sense of humor. He spent his last weekend riding new mountain bicycles with his son Ryder. He was excited about the future, his Spiritual life, attended Elevation Church and shared their music with his family. He was a grown man who knew what was most important in this life. Farewell Beloved. We carry your light with us until we are together again.
