    Sandra Lee Dawson Pridgen

    February 8, 1947 - March 11, 2021

Sandra Dawson Pridgen, 74, of Castalia, North Carolina, went to be with her Lord and Savior in her home surrounded by her loved ones on Thursday, March 11, 2021. Sandra was born in Phoebus, Virginia on February 8, 1947 to John and Rebecca Dawson. Sandra met her husband Sam and after 2 years of dating he proposed to her over a banana split and they were married on March 14, 1964. Sandra accomplished and achieved many accolades and certificates and went on to become the first female police officer at Nashville Police Department in Nash County. She also worked as a paralegal and at Nationwide Insurance Company until she quit to devote her time to her grandchildren. Sandra was a dedicated member and Sunday school teacher at Fellowship Baptist Church in Castalia, North Carolina. Sandra dedicated her life to her family, friends, and lived her life to serve the Lord who she now resides with in the Kingdom of Heaven. Sandra loved her children but being “Granny” to her grandchildren made her heart complete. There doesn’t seem to be enough paper to describe Sandra and the many selfless things she did for her family and friends. Sandra wants to be remembered as someone who loved the Lord; through Jesus’ precious blood her sins have been forgiven and that she was blessed with a supportive and loving husband, 3 healthy children, 9 grandchildren and 1 great granddaughter and also her daughters-in-law, son-in-law and many wonderful loving friends. She wants everyone to remember her with joy and not tears. Sandra is preceded in death by her parents, John and Rebecca, her brother, “Butch”, her special Uncle Willie, and great-grandson, Mason. She is survived by her devoted and loving husband of 57 years Arthur “Sam”, her three children, Becky (Michael), Tommy (Eva) and Chris (Kelly), her 9 grandchildren, Meggan, Amanda (Darrin), Jamie (Dereck), Larry, Elizabeth, Arthur, Christian, Haley and Greyson, and her great-granddaughter Sydney. Sandra did not wish to have a service, but instead her family and close friends will gather to have a celebration of her life. It broke our hearts to lose you, but you did not go alone. For part of us went with you, the day God called you home.
