Almon "Floyd" Fincher

Almon “Floyd” Fincher, 70, of Elm City passed away on November 6, 2022. Floyd was born on January 29, 1952 to Wanda and Floyd Sr. in Temple, Texas. Over the years Floyd met his beautiful wife Cathy and they settled in North Carolina along the way making wonderful memories and lifelong friendships. Floyd loved spending time with his sons, new grandson and his Eastside Motorcycle club family. He enjoyed sewing, beadwork, blacksmithing, and riding his Harley Davidson. Floyd was known best for his story telling, dance moves, and great singing voice. On occasion he was known to sing a song or two off of his many “albums”. After retiring from Kidde Aerospace in Wilson, NC Floyd started traveling more going out west to Europe and just recently took a trip to Canada. Floyd’s life was a life of service. He served in the Army from 1971-1973 from there he continued his journey of service by volunteering and leading a local Boy Scouts of America Troop for over 30 years. He helped numerous scouts complete their Eagle Scout projects around the community. He was an active member of Coopers Ruritan Club and served as a previous Coopers Fire and Rescue Board Member. Floyd had an immense impact on those around him and he was loved by many. Floyd never met a stranger and always had a solution to any problem. Loved ones that cleared the path for Floyd are his wife Cathy Fincher; mother Wanda Shaddox and father Floyd Sr. Loved ones that will miss Floyd until they meet again are his son Daniel Fincher and wife Marilyn Fincher, grandson who he adored dearly Huxton Fincher; son’s David Fincher and Kevin Fincher; brothers Johnny and Bill Fincher; sister Judy Strawn and husband Larry Strawn; many nieces and nephews, and his Eastside Motorcycle Club Family and many friends across the Country. Visitation with family and friends will be Saturday, November 12, 2022 from 6-8:00pm at Cornerstone Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held Sunday, November 13, 2022 at 2:00pm with Rev. John Hudson officiating at Sherrod Family Cemetery 6005 Vaughn Chapel Rd Nashville, NC 27856. In lieu of flowers the family asks that you make a donation to the charity of your choice.
