Ruth Edwards Moore

RED OAK- Ruth was born to Sidney Arthur and Mae Whitley Edwards on March 28, 1919 and was taken by angels to Heaven on February 24, 2017 at the age of 97. She is survived by her daughter-in-law, Claudia Moore, granddaughters Allison Harris and her husband Eddie, Meredith Peters and her husband Michael, great granddaughters Ramsey Harris and Lily Peters, greatgrandsons Bryton Harris, Brookes Peters, and Davis Peters, and nieces Nancy Edwards and Jo Ann Jones. She was preceded in death by two infant sons; husband, Stanley Moore; son, Alan Moore; and sister, Margaret Tharrington. Ruth and Stanley were married for sixty-nine years and eleven months and shared a unique romance. Ruth longed for the day she could be reunited with her loving husband in Heaven. Ruth’s grandfather was a charter member of the Red Oak Baptist Church and she was a faithful third-generation member. She served as Class President of the Love Class for over fifty years. Ruth served as GA leader for four years and helped with Vacation Bible School. She was a grade school mother at Red Oak School for several years. Ruth loved to travel and she and Stanley visited seventeen countries all over the world. She was active in planning vacations to various cities in the United States and cruises to the Caribbean for over fifteen years. She loved to cook and her homemade vegetable soup was the best. She loved to knit and crochet, and passed this passion onto her granddaughters. She always had a waiting list for pot holders. The family would like to extend a special thanks to all of the caregivers that stayed with Ruth over the last three years. Your kindness and compassion towards Ruth was greatly appreciated and we will always consider you as part of our extended family. We would also like to thank our Hospice nurses Letisha andChanequa, along with Dr. Boyette, for your excellent care of Ruth over these last few weeks. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2:00pm on Monday, February 27 at Red Oak Baptist Church. The family will receive friends following the service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Red Oak Baptist Church.
